Launch Complex 26 was built in support of Army Redstone and Jupiter missile testing. Launch Pad 26A was the site of the launch of the first U.S. satellite, Explorer I, on January 31, 1958. To the south of the Museum (walking distance) is Launch Complex 5/6. Two monkey bio-flights to determine if life could be sustained in space environment.
