Orion Boilerplate Test Article

The Boilerplate Test Article originally was built for testing water impacts at Langley’s Drop Test Facility. It was modified for use as a recovery training aid to develop the recovery procedures and train US Navy personnel on those procedures beginning in 2012. It was retired after URT-9 when NASA transitioned to the CMTA. The BTA is currently mothballed at KSC in a warehouse north of the VAB.
